FOREWORD

The Yinxu, located on both sides of the Huan River in the northwest suburbs of Anyang City, Henan Province, is the first historical site of the late Shang Dynasty capital city in China with documented evidence, confirmed by archaeological excavations and oracle bone inscriptions. The discovery of the Yinxu advanced the credible history of China with written records to the Shang Dynasty and gave rise to a new discipline - oracle bone studies.

The New Yinxu Museum

In order to meet the needs of protecting and displaying the archaeological achievements of the Yinxu site, Anyang City began the construction of the New Yinxu Museum in 2020 and officially opened it in 2024. As the first national major thematic museum to showcase the Shang civilization in a panoramic manner, the Yinxu Museum has received a total of 1.8 million visitors since its opening on February 26, 2024.

The new building of the New Yinxu Museum presents a quadripod shaped structure, standing in the center of the water. Above the ancient bronze gate are the oracle bone inscriptions of the three characters Dayi Shang. In terms of exhibition layout, the new museum focuses on the theme of "Great Shang Dynasty Civilization", with three basic exhibitions, four thematic exhibitions, and one characteristic immersive digital exhibition. Nearly 4000 pieces (sets) of cultural relics such as bronze ware, pottery, jade, and oracle bones are exhibited, with a large number and diverse types of cultural relics on display. More than three-quarters of the precious cultural relics are first-time appearances.  

The three basic exhibitions "Exploration of Shang Dynasty Civilization", "Great Shang Dynasty Civilization", and "World Shang Dynasty Civilization" have been open to the public for a long time. In multiple exhibitions such as the "Yinxu Chariots and Horses Relics Exhibition" and the "Oracle Bone Digital Hall", Wincomn's Krinda laser projection technology has been used.

The exhibition items in the oracle bone digital hall located on the third floor are a combination of Shang Dynasty lifestyle films presented by laser projectors and proportionally enlarged oracle bone films. The film presents the abstract characters recorded in oracle bone inscriptions in concrete form. By transforming oracle bone inscriptions into modern Chinese and translating them into concrete digital language, it helps the audience understand the events recorded in oracle bone inscriptions. At the same time, the film presents a carrier using enlarged oracle bone shapes, symbolizing a return to cultural origins.

The digital hall breaks the traditional way of CAVE cinema digital hall, integrates multiple professional advantages, and creates a leading super immersive digital performance field, which is also the first of its kind in the entire museum industry. By linking digital films with mechanical elements and integrating them with hexahedral spaces, an immersive metaverse field is created where viewers can immerse themselves and experience the shock.

The exhibition of the Yinxu' chariot and horse ruins located on the first floor is combined with multimedia images. The theme film uses telephoto projection ultra frame 6k film to restore the magnificent scene of the chariot and horse pit merchant king's travel, showcasing the grandeur of the great country during the Yin and Shang dynasties. The combination of motion and stillness, present and past, reproduces historical scenes and presents them intuitively to the audience.

The New Yinxu Museum has used Wincomn Krinda projectors for multiple exhibitions. Keyingda projectors have brightness ranging from 7000 lumens to 25000 lumens, which can meet the light and shadow technology presentation needs of various scenes in the museum.
